THE AURORA PROGRAM

EQUINE-ASSISTED EATING DISORDER PROGRAM

Eating disorders among adolescents pose a significant challenge for both individuals and their families.

These complex conditions often require a comprehensive and collaborative approach to treatment, and one innovative avenue that has gained attention is Equine Assisted Therapy.

This unique form of therapy combines the therapeutic power of horses and the emotional needs of adolescents struggling with eating disorders, offering a range of benefits that can complement traditional treatments.

We work with the families and the treating teams of adolescents to provide holistic treatment in a safe and caring environment.

HOW IT WORKS

Our program is run over a 6-week period and is a 2-hour commitment each week.

To be considered for the program, adolescents must already have a treating therapist or team who can refer to our program, which our team will liaise with to ascertain suitability to partake.

Throughout the program, we maintain open communication with participants, their families, and any mental health professionals involved.

Our team monitor progress, offer support, and adapt activities as needed to address individual needs and concerns. We encourage participants to seek ongoing therapy and support as they continue their journey toward recovery at the end of the program.
